• Split mirrors are a relatively “impact-free” replication technique
• Requires additional storage for each volume • Enable fast fault recovery with 100% copy of data • Can only be used locally within a given array
Pros
No impact on application performance
No use of SAN bandwidth
Fast recovery with 100% copy of data
Cons
Consumes more capacity
No protection against Storage Subsystem failure
At this point, it’s very fast recovery because it is a 100% copy of our data, it’s used within our given subsystem, there’s no impact on application performance, no use of SAN bandwidth. It protects against data corruption but the downside is it consumes more capacity, because the split mirror has to be equal as far as our usable storage capacity is concerned.
