Aaron, Settlage end partnership Two-time and
reigning U.S. pairs pewter medalists Madeline Aaron and Max Settlage an- nounced in August they have ended their partnership. Aaron and Settlage, who trained in
Colorado Springs, Colorado, under coaches Dalilah Sappenfield and Larry Ibarra, began their partnership in 2010. They won the U.S. junior pairs title in 2014 and the U.S. novice title in 2011. “I want to thank everyone who has
helped and supported Max and me through our career,” Aaron said. “I am going home to Arizona for a while to be with family and de- cide what I want to do. I am not closing the door on my skating career and I am open to more opportunities with a new partner. I am going to take some time for myself and do what feels right and brings me the most joy.” “I am grateful for having skated with
Madeline, to have represented U.S. Figure Skating on the Grand Prix circuit and at oth- er international competitions and to have trained with a group of exceptional coach- es and skaters,” Settlage said. “My plans are to continue skating competitively and I will look for a new partner to achieve my long- term goals.”
The legendary Dick Button
Davis and White, Button featured in ‘Dancing Athlete’ exhibit
The National Museum of Dance, located
in Saratoga Springs, New York, featured two-time Olympic champion Dick But- ton and 2014 Olympic champions Mer- yl Davis and Charlie White in its summer exhibit “The Dancing Athlete,” created to celebrate the inherent connections be- tween dance and sports, and dancers and athletes, and the influence and conflu- ence of these forms throughout history. The display featured Davis’ and White’s
2010 short dance costumes, along with photos and facts about skating greats such as Button and three-time Norwe- gian Olympic champion Sonja Henie. The exhibit opened with The Dancing
Athlete Gala, held Aug. 13, featuring a spe- cial performance by MOMIX, a company of
Meryl Davis’ and Charlie White’s 2010 short dance costumes on exhibit
contemporary dance illusionists. The annual event is the museum’s largest fundraiser and was hailed as the best gala of Saratoga’s sum- mer season by the Saratoga Convention and Tourism Bureau.
