HAVEN DENNEY & BRANDON FRAZIER
DENNEY: “To get into competitive form, I do a strict physical work- out five times a week. My workout was designed for my specific individual needs geared around my injury (she had right knee surgery in 2015). Brandon Siakel from the Olympic Training Center developed a plan to keep me strong. In addition, I try to practice yoga and meditate.”
FRAZIER: “When I lived in Florida, I played tennis almost every weekend. Now I play in Illinois with
[coach] Rockne [Brubaker] and we’re looking into joining a league together. It’s just a fun way to keep from sitting still. It’s refreshing to do something athletic
that’s not as competitive as when we’re training on the ice. We don’t take it too seriously.”
JASON BROWN “THE RUSSIAN SPLIT IS MY FAVORITE ON-ICE SKILL.
THE AUDIENCE LOVES IT AND I LOVE PERFORMING IT. I feel like a good Russian split can really draw in an audience, and I love trying to make it bigger and bigger every time I do one in a program. Russian splits combine jump height and flexibility. Honing this skill requires lots of stretching every day and working in the gym to increase my jump height, spring and vault so I can get off the ice and into the air to give the split jump that wow factor.”
