The Thoroughbred Figure Skating Club in Lexington, Kentucky, per- formed its spring recital in support of one of its former members, Eunice Logan, who has been battling ovarian cancer since February 2014. Logan was an avid club member and is the mother of Thor- oughbred FSC coach Ben Logan. Eunice is the president of the Blue- grass Ovarian Cancer Support Group. On the day of the recital, Eu- nice’s doctor was reluctant to release her from the hospital, but she insisted. At the end of the recital, Ben wheeled her onto the ice and the club skaters presented her with fl owers and a check for the sup- port group.


Pawtucket and Providence FSC boasts all-star cast for Jimmy Fund benefi t show


The Pawtucket and Providence Figure Skating Club in Rhode Island hosted “Skating for the Jimmy Fund: An Exhibition to Benefi t the Da- na-Farber Cancer Institute” at Schneider Are- na, Providence College, on July 22.


The Jimmy Fund solely supports Boston’s Da- na-Farber Cancer Institute, raising funds for adult and pediatric cancer care and research to improve the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world. This exhibition raised nearly $5,000 on behalf of the Jimmy Fund.


Two-time Olympic medalist Nancy Kerrigan co-emceed the event.


The show featured performances by fi gure skaters who have competed at the Olympic, World and international levels, as well as skat-


ers from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Con- necticut and Maine who have reached the U.S. Championships, Eastern Sectional Champion- ships and New England Regional Champion- ships.


Joining Kerrigan were 2014 Olympic bronze medalist in the team event and reigning U.S. pairs bronze medalist Marissa Castelli with Mervin Tran; 2014 Olympian and 2013 Aus- tralian champion Brooklee Han; 2011 U.S. sil- ver medalist Richard Dornbush; fi ve-time U.S. Championships competitor Sean Rabbitt; and ice dancers Anastasia Cannuscio and Colin McManus, the 2016 U.S. pewter medalists.
