MARISSA CASTELLI & MERVIN TRAN

CASTELLI: “Yoga has been my go-to when I need to mentally recharge. It really soothes me and allows me to let go of anything that isn’t useful in that moment for me. I learned so much more about breathing and how to incorporate it into my daily life and yoga practice to de-stress and let go of tension.”

TRAN: “My favorite off- ice activities are yoga, pumping iron, gettin’ jiggy with it (nana na nana na), Pokemon Go! training, roll- erblading/skateboarding and making food.”

MADISON CHOCK & EVAN BATES

CHOCK: “There are so many yummy snacks, it’s hard to choose my favorite. I love KIND Healthy Grains bars (dark choc- olate chunk and coconut are my favorite flavors). I also drink a glass of Silk Vanilla Soymilk with plant protein after a workout. Seasonal fruits are also a staple for me.

BATES: “Our off-ice training includes weight training (3x a week), ballet (2x a week) and Gyrotonics (1x a week).”

According to Gyrokinesis method creator Juliu Horvath, “The Gyrotonic method is an original and unique movement method that enables simultaneous lengthening and strengthening of muscles, stimulates circulation and enhanc- es joint mobility and coordination. Gyrotonic exercise sequences are composed of spiraling, circular movements which flow together seam- lessly in rhythmic repetitions, with corresponding breathing patterns.”
