Risley said her husband Fred plans to offer tours of the area this year and her son Nickolas is going to use his Belgian horse and carriage to offer rides. While a nominal fee will be involved, their goal is to make the Okie-Tex Star Party more enjoyable for everyone. “There’s some wonderful people who come to the star party,” Risley

said. “They’re friendly, laidback and easygoing.” Anyone coming to the star party for the fi rst time would do well to heed this advice for newcomers from Dennis, “Fill up before you come; it’s 35 to 40 miles to the nearest gas station once you arrive.” School groups and other groups interested in attending the star party or visiting for an evening of observing should make arrangements in advance with the organizer. All newcomers are welcome and more in- formation on area accommodations and attractions can be found on the star party website at www.okie-tex.com.
