Reducing Melt Variability, Cost Through Engineering 通过管理降低熔炼的可变性和成本


With customer demands for increased quality and


process controls, iron casting facilities are facing grow- ing insistence for eliminating variability throughout the casting process, including melting, pouring and molding operations. ProService, Borgoricco, Italy, the engineering partner of Foseco, has developed a software package for iron casting facilities to improve quality and reduce costs in the production of quality castings. Te newly engineered approach focuses on two stages in the melting process: the preparation of the base iron and its treatment in ladle.


Base Iron Preparation


In the preparation of iron, ITACA MeltDeck pro- vides a metalcaster with thermal analysis software that allows in-depth analysis by integrating the data com- ing from spectrometers and temperature probes. Tis information is presented to operators, who are able to define parameters to be controlled and set a target value for each parameter. Additionally, the ITACA software can set validity times to control iron degeneration. Te procedure module shows the status of the furnaces,
