The family is active with sports and outdoor adventures. Dan and the girls have attended several “dads and daughters” dances over the past few years. Lexington, Va., resident Kurt Speers reports that his youngest son, Quincy, 7, smashed the neighborhood record for most consecutive bounces on a Pogo stick, racking up a bone-jarring total of 475. Former Bandersnatcher Jon Ryan returned to Saratoga Springs in October to help area elementary schools celebrate National Arts in Education Week with a number of performances and workshops. Jon is co-founder of the Boston-based R&B-soul-pop a cappella group Ball in the House, which has performed for audi- ences worldwide and collaborated with such artists as the Beach Boys, Gladys Knight, and Smokey Robinson. Amy Benatovich-Janay and husband Michael opened Sky Zone, an indoor-out- door trampoline park in Pine Brook, N.J., last summer. Amy encourages Skidmore alums in the area to check it out. Kate Liddle has launched Make It Market USA, which manufacturers a new product called USplint, a self-contained splinting system for stabilizing bone frac- tures and breaks. Made in the USA from a biocompatible thermoplastic material for which Kate is obtaining a patent, USplint will be marketed to the military and disas- ter-relief agencies. Kate exhibited the product at an Army Special Operations medical show in Tampa, Fla., last winter. Melissa Kotlen Nagin spent a weekend in Boston last winter. It was great for us to catch up with one another. We also met Amy O’Leary for dinner.

His latest ven- ture, online testing platform Smarterer, was acquired last fall by Pluralsight, an e-training firm, for $75 million. Dave is a regular blogger for e-magazine Inc. Thais Sherell Jackson has authored a children’s book, One Awesome School, which tells the story of Vienna, a special- needs student who faces taunting from other kids and hopes for acceptance at a new school. A special-education teacher with a master’s in public administration, Thais launched N-spire Productions to cre- ate content for print, television, and film that promotes conflict resolution, healthy families, and community partnership. Fletcher Kent and his wife live in Rhode Island, “a place that provides a full life for such a little state.” They welcomed their first child, son August, at the end of 2014. Creston Lea is featured in a 20-minute documentary, Wood & Wire: The Hand- Crafted Guitars of Creston Lea. It was pro- duced by VCAM, a nonprofit community media center in Burlington, Vt. The film includes behind-the-scenes footage of the studio where Creston crafts these unique instruments and interviews with musi- cians who have been become devotees. In November, I had fun with Meredith Eastman Principe and her family in New Hampshire, where I met their newest addition, Charlie, and was introduced to the world of Peppa Pig by his big sister, Maggie. Stephanie Wilson Copice enjoyed anoth- er summer of road-tripping that included a visit to Andie Silver and Greg Huska. She also directed and produced her sixth annual production of The Nutcracker for the Millis, Mass., public schools. Per- formed by 120 students from grades pre-K to 12, the production “fused the classic Tchaikovsky score with variations by Duke Ellington (thanks to Skidmore dance professor Debra Fernandez for introducing me to these musical varia- tions), to packed houses every night,” she says.
