We also offer our deepest sympathies to Judy Roberts Kunisch, whose father, Cliff, died in November. Barbie von der Groeben reflects, “Cliff was a great friend to Skidmore and loved his Happy Pappy times there.” He and his late wife, Sue, sent all three of their daughters to the College.

My husband, Bob, and I traveled to Ireland in October for the Wexford Opera Festival. Among the wonderful perform- ances was the European premiere of Silent Night by Pulitzer-winning American com- poser Kevin Puts. We recently celebrated the engagement of our daughter Alicia ’07 to Matt Corley, a beloved member of our family since we first met him six years ago. I am planning my second trip to Spain to continue my walk on the Camino de Santiago. MARY HARDMAN LAPORTE 143 FERN STREET HARTFORD, CT 06105-2248 860-236-0742 CBANDCO2@AOL.COM

allows. Her wanderlust has been focused on South America; over the past year, she visited Patagonia and also the Amazon in Peru and Brazil. Ann spent time with Nancy Ehmann Aronzon and husband Daniel at their new digs in Bonita Springs, Fla., last winter. Lynn Doe Shipway and husband are both retired but plenty busy. They enjoy life on the Kennebec River in Bath, Maine, year-round. Lynn would be delighted to hear from anyone traveling down east on Route 1. She says, “The lob- ster is fresh, the beer is cold, and the toi- lets flush!” She wasn’t sure if she could attend our 45th but sends her best to all. Lori Rusling Shearer reports that retire- ment is “fantastic.” She has lived in London for the past 38 years. Lori hosted Debbie Hall Shapiro ’69 for 10 days and they had a great time exploring London, including a performance of Julius Caesar at the Globe Theatre. Lori’s husband, Fred, retired in December. All their chil- dren are well and employed, two in San Francisco and three in London. I had a fun mini-reunion with Ann Evans Prince last spring. I’m really look-

Over the holidays Janet Lee Beach enjoyed a beautiful view of the lights on the San Francisco Bay Bridge from her condo. Her work in marketing consulting includes projects in health care, financial services, and high tech. Janet’s husband is a professor and con- sultant in decision-making and risk man- agement. Her son works for Equifax’s identity-theft protection business. The family enjoyed skiing last winter. Janet counts herself “very fortunate to have gone to a college that, from its inception, emphasized careers for women.” Camden, Maine, resident Jane Glennie Babbitt retired as a technical services librarian at the Rockport Public School in June 2014; husband Tom will retire this year. They plan to do a lot of traveling. Jaye Scholl Bohlen and husband Charlie live in Glendale, Calif., where she owns a consulting firm and he is an investment manager. Their 29-year-old daughter, Avis, is a lawyer in London. Son Charlie, 27, works with 3D printing, and son Peter, 25, is in the fashion industry. Jaye visited Skidmore’s campus last spring and declares, “It is beautiful!” Sue Hufnagel is the proud grandma of three girls ranging in age from three months to 2 years. Maizie is the daughter of Sarah Reilly Harvey ’00; Lucy is named for her great-grandmother Alice Lucile Reilly ’35; it may be up to the youngest, Lila, to become the fourth gen- eration Skiddie! She is delighted that her children live within six miles of her, “making it easy for me to be a grandma!” Sue coordinates special education services for 3- to 5-year-olds in Knox County, Maine, and says she’s not ready to retire yet, but looks forward to spending more time with family over the next few years. Sibyl Waterman Haley toured Europe’s Danube region on a Skidmore Alumni Travel Program trip, making new friends and seeing lovely places while learning more about classical music. Elected presi- dent of Skidmore’s Alumni Association Board of Directors last year, Sibyl is “doing work that I love,” and she encour- ages anyone with ideas or questions to contact her at shaley49@gmail.com. She is

off to the Bahamas this spring and will explore Italian lakes in June with fellow Danube traveler Sylvia Santore Contessa ’61. To celebrate turning 65, Sibyl treated her kids and grands to a trip to Rome and Tuscany last year. Nephew Jon Waterman ’96 dubbed an Arizona-to-Maine 90th- birthday party for Sibyl’s mother “the Mimipalooza.” Sibyl became close friends with longtime fellow volunteer Jacki Jung ’61, who died on November 6. Sibyl reflects, “Like her friendship, Jacki’s devo- tion to her alma mater was profound and unwavering.” Judy Willsey, Chris Werner, Mimi Freund Tilton, and Barbara Tsairis are still helping to provide access to clean water and sanitation for women and chil- dren in Amasaman, Ghana, through the charitable organization World Class Ghana. Visit www.worldclass-ghana.org to find out more. Michigander Charlon McMath Hibbard and husand Jim in August helped cele- brate the wedding of son Bradley, held at a house on Lake Angelus that Brad and brother Jay purchased just in time for the nuptials. Brad and his new bride, Holly, now reside there. Charlon and Jim cele- brated his 65th birthday with a trip to the Bahamas for swimming, snorkeling, and reading. Jim works at Hibbard Inshore with Jay and Brad. In November, Jay part- nered with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on the scan- ning of a previously unviewed shipwreck in San Francisco Bay; known as the Titanic of the Golden Gate, the SS City of Rio De Janeiro went down in 1901. The effort to reveal its interior was covered by CNN. Last winter Charlon and Jim worked on their Telemark skiing, and Charlon served on the ski patrol at Nubs Nob, outside Harbor Springs, Mich. Sadly, Charlon lost her mother, Betty Noyes McMath ’47, on August 27.
