died in October 2013. The class sends our sincere condolences to the family. Sally Seelbach Narrigan lives in the Beaumont Retirement Community, in Bryn Mawr, Pa. She says living there is “very pleasurable.” Rosalie Seh Samson reminds me that she had a very good Skidmore friend, the late Betty Samson, who was also her sis- ter-in-law. Rowie is frequently in touch with former roommate Marilyn Cole Feinberg, who now lives in Chicago. Rowie is in good health at a continuing- care facility in Chapel Hill, N.C. She enjoys swimming and recommends The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. Marion Whiting Brandon had some serious hospital stays last year, but is now back home at Wellington Terrace and feel- ing pretty good. Peggy Gluck Wolf reports that at 93 she is still “going strong and full of energy.” She welcomes visits from classmates at her winter place in Tucson, Ariz., and her summer residence in Rangeley, Maine. Maxine Weingarten Donofrio watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade from son Mike’s home on 79th Street in NYC. She spent Christmas with her two grandchil- dren. Maxine studies Mandarin Chinese at a local college.

If I can help provide phone numbers or addresses of your Skidmore friends, please let me know. DOROTHY ROMAN GUENTHER 248 PINES LAKE DRIVE EAST WAYNE, NJ 07470-5009 973-835-1869 SYNCHRODOTTIE@AOL.COM

around the corner! Please consider com- ing back to Skidmore to celebrate this grand event, May 28–31. We offer condo- lences to the fami- ly of Helen Ritter Bleakney, who died in August 2013.

’45 N MAY 28–31

I work in my studio and spend as much time as I can with my grandkids; my daughter, Jennifer, has two girls, and my son, Timon, has a boy and girl. Let’s stay in touch! SUSAN RABINOWITZ MALLOY 8 DOGWOOD LANE WESTPORT, CT 06880-5021 SUCO7@AOL.COM

Our 70th reunion is just

Greene, both residents of southern Connecticut, visit each other frequently. Cora Casey Kilbourn works in her son’s camera repair shop, answering phones and checking in cameras. She spent October 2013 in England with her eldest daughter, three grandsons, and a great- grandson. Connie Wallace Caldwell can’t believe she is 91. She still gets out to lunch, movies, and the library. Connie hosted 16 guests for Christmas. Fran Schermerhorn Sherley moved to an apartment in Lebanon, N.H., in September. It was a big adjustment but has its advantages. Her son is in Chicago and her sister lives in Keene, N.H. Fran is active in the Hanover Garden Club but misses playing tennis. However, she can still drive and enjoys having that free- dom. She hopes all ’46ers are doing well. Nancy Bailey Allchin had cataracts removed over the summer and renewed her driving license. But her “ancient” car gave out and was not worth the cost of repairs, so although she remains very busy, she now has to wait for the bus or a lift. Her husband of 67 years, Dick, stays busy on the computer taking care of their finances.

Faith Hope Seiler Barnard wrote a two- page letter in which she reminded us that she named her daughter after her mother, Christine Hope ’19, who was a class May Queen. That daughter lives in Wilmette, Ill. Faith has a son in Florida and another in California. Husband David’s children all live in the Chicago area. Her new hobby is birding in woodsy places around their Florida home. The couple enjoys time with their 10th rescue dog, “the smartest one yet.” Binghamton, N.Y., resident Barbara

Watson Hutter moved out of her home and into assisted living in 2008, first at St. Louise Manor and later at Elizabeth Church Manor. Barbara worked as a nurse in both facilities and is still remembered as a colleague by some of the staff. Daughter Patricia traveled from Vancouver, British Columbia, for a visit over the winter, and they were joined by Barbara’s other daughter, Carol. On a sad note, Jim Colby reported the death of his mother, Margaret Colby Doig, in December. Peg and I were room- mates our senior year; we had met in music class as freshmen and were friends forever after. I was able to visit her many times over the years. We offer our sympa- thy to her family.

40 SCOPE SPRING 2015

Audrey Adamson Benson reports that she and Connie Clarke

I also received an email from the family of Dorothy Batzanian Otchy informing me that she died in July. She left Skidmore in 1943 to marry her sweet- heart, Arthur, but never forgot her former classmates. Over the course of their 65- year marriage, the couple visited many Skidmore friends. We extend condolences to her family. BETTY BRYAN ROSENBAUM 150 COOK HILL ROAD, APT. 1105 CHESHIRE, CT 06410-3763 203-271-8805 HAZELALLEN@AOL.COM

I talked with Jan Lauer in Mill Valley, Calif., who sounded very

upbeat. Virginia Miller Lyon is hanging in there despite problems with macular degenera- tion. She and I have decided that it is not necessary to find a replacement for our class president Betty Noyes McMath, who died August 27. Virginia and I plan to work on our 70th reunion just as we have in the past.

Jeanne Clements Roth in Colorado has to use oxygen full-time now, but still gets around in her retirement community. Yvonne Salembier Horelik still lives in her home of 45 years in Baltic, Conn., plays golf, and is active in bridge clubs. She owns 97 acres and loves to ride her tractor.

Bobbi Sidd Behan is doing very well in Longmeadow, Mass. She intends to stay in her home and considers climbing its stairs a great way to exercise. Polly Deppen Whedon and husband Bill plan to move into a retirement com- munity near West Hartford, Conn., once they sell their house. Jean Harrison McClelland survived two blood clots in her legs several years ago. She has two great-grandsons, Payton and Preston, whom she calls “smart little dick- ens.”

Claire Reese Burrill is blessed with good health and still travels. Spending time with family and taking classes keeps her brain active.

Doris Adamson Begoon volunteers with preschool children near her home in Norwalk, Conn. She has five grandsons, a great-grandson, and 11 grandnieces. Sibyl Kirby had some health problems last year but is hanging in there. She enjoyed Christmas in Connecticut with her brother and his family before heading to the Florida Keys in February, where she played a little tennis. Sibyl summers in Lake Bomoseen, Vt., and spends most of the winter in her Rutland condo.
