Ruth Niederlander Shoumate says the highlight of last year was taking a two- week cruise from Croatia to Greece on a small, 50-person ship. The trip was delightful, though Ruth injured her knee while traveling.

Jan Sutherland Fairservis and her daughter, Jenny Fairservis ’84, live in Salisbury, Conn. Last July, they traveled to Wiltshire, England, for an international crop-circle conference to learn about this mysterious form of art, which appears around the world but most often in the UK. Jan is painting a lot. She welcomes email at jbsfair@yahoo.com.

Last summer Margaret Sharpe Whitehead drove from Delaware to New Jersey, stopping to visit Mary Stirling Campbell and Nancy Howie. Margaret also attended granddaughter Melissa’s “white coat” ceremony: Melissa is study- ing to be a veterinarian. She will be great- ly needed, as one of Margaret’s other granddaughters raises Labradors! Charlotte Eberwein Sutherland cele- brated her 85th birthday. She enjoys yard work and singing in a choir. Ann Hammel Kahl is still running races, coaching women in weight-lifting, and staying busy with her calligraphy business. Pat Bryant Koedding’s granddaughter Lindsay is engaged to be married in September. Granddaughter Lisa was mar- ried in June, at a “grand affair.” Grandson Jon left the military to work at Johnson and Johnson. Pat’s son, Bruce, moved from Michigan to North Carolina. Pat and daughter Donna took a cruise along the Maine coastline last summer, but they liked their trip to Panama better! Pat O’Meara Jevons sadly reports the death of her granddaughter, Cathryn, at only 19. She leaves behind her parents, Jennifer and Craig Blair, and her sister, Meghan. We offer our deepest condo- lences to Pat and her family. Ginger Morgan Travis is savoring the memory of a riverboat trip up the Mississippi last year that fulfilled a life- time desire. “It was fantastic.” Janet Ainsworth MacDonald works at her travel agency, sending people on won- derful trips to see polar bears, cathedrals, and the oceans of the world, among other things. While on a cruise with her chil- dren in September, Janet fell and broke her arm. She spent eight weeks in a cast, reading and re-reading lots of great books. Sally Quincy Hartshorn volunteers at a local hospital. She took an 18-day cruise to the Hawaiian Islands. In October she and a daughter visited Gloria Peterson Wyatt in North Carolina and “had a mar- velous time.”

I have been seeing a lot of my neighbor Janet White MacLure. We share a love of classical music and are attending the con- certs of our local Chamber Music Festival together. PATRICIA GRUMMON CLEGG 4670 CARLTON DUNES DRIVE, #14 AMELIA ISLAND, FL 32034 PATRICIACLEGG436@GMAIL.COM
