She was great fun and kept me laughing all four years. Patti spent a great deal of time and energy keeping a group of us connected throughout our lives; she arranged for Matilda Ruby Coulter, Patricia Knight Spencer, Alice McDonald Hartzell, Nancy Morrison, Jacqueline Welsh Barr, Susan Steinbrenner Norpell, Charlotte Hardy Besse, Juanita Kahle Johnston, Barbara Wells Turner, and me to celebrate our 50th, 70th, and 75th birthdays together.” MARDI DUGGAN DREBING 4215 CLEVELAND ROAD SYRACUSE, NY 13215-2415 MARDIFLY@AOL.COM

is retired from his urology practice. They recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. Barbara Justin Handler and Mark are doing fine and, other than a few aches and pains, in good health. They have four granddaughters—all beautiful and bril- liant, of course.

Diane Davis Nelson and husband Jim were blessed with their third great-grand- child, Mackenzie, born in Seattle in October. She is the first child of their eld- est grandson and his wife. Jim and Diane enjoyed a fabulous trip to Scotland and Ireland last year. Diane hopes to be on board for our 60th reunion. Patricia Price Keiser lives in Florida, where she is doing quite well, though on oxygen. She sends her love to all. Diane d’Arienzo Pascal and Jack are doing “wonderfully well,” vacationing with grandchildren and staying active. They are grateful for good health. Last year Nancy Passaro Whittaker’s children threw her a surprise 80th-birth- day party attended by more than 100 peo- ple. Nancy had fun visiting brother Dick in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for two weeks last summer. She and Dick hosted 42 family members for Christmas. Nancy encour- ages nursing alumnae to attend Reunion this May.

I am saddened to report that BA Kalteux Callanan’s husband, John, died December 17. We send our deepest con- dolences to BA and her family. I was sad to learn that Patricia Price Keiser died on January 29. Nancy Colbourne Harding shared fond memo- ries of Patti, who was her roommate at Skidmore: “We were complete opposites— I always planned ahead and Patti invari- ably did everything at the last minute. I still remember her running to art class with an oil painting that was still wet.

Margot Mimmack Lamar and husband Stanley have a new address in Hockessin, Del. (You can phone Alumni Affairs at 800-584-0115 for con- tact information.) Gladys Federoff Fisher and husband Mike took a Holland America cruise up the east coast from Florida to Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Quebec. Jessica Samuel Gray is now living in

Lynn, Mass. Sadly, her mother died in 2013.

After leaving in her sophomore year, Carolee Gordon Stray attended CUNY School of Nursing, but she feels greater affinity for Skidmore and stays in touch with Nan Lauder Eckfeld and Sue Hoben Hinchey. Carolee acknowledged her big 80th birthday with a “wow!” She has two new knees that keep her moving. Two grandsons and twin granddaughters who live close by keep her lively and happy. She and husband Miles cruised on the Windstar, their favorite ship, in January. Not everyone can go through a cancer experience and stay as indomitable and effervescent as Marlene “Bambi” Scher. She has been battling lung, breast, and pancreatic cancer that was diagnosed two years ago. Still robust and loving life, Bambi credits her three children, especial- ly son David, for keeping her going. I enjoy the pictures of her dogs that she posts on Facebook. Contact me at the number below if you’d like her address. Lois Snyder Peterson has a new address in Colorado Springs, Colo. Her son, Jeff, was offered a great opportunity to work for the YMCA in Pike’s Peak. Lois plans to get active there too. All is well with Marilyn Moore Bradley, whose husband, Orren, turned 90 in January. He feels fortunate to have partici- pated in Honor Flight, a program that flies military veterans to memorials dedi- cated to the wars in which they fought. It

was a great experience for him. In December, Judy Murdough Rollinson was reading a Vero Beach, Fla., newsweekly when she spotted an article about Lois Fassett Angell ’32, who at 105 holds the distinction of being the oldest registered voter in Indian River County. Judy alerted Skidmore’s Alumni Office and arranged, along with Dotsie Slosson Erskine ’48, to visit Lois in a health-care facility where she was mending from a broken hip. They brought her a bouquet of yellow flowers, prompting the delight- ed Lois to remark, “You look like Skidmore girls.”

Claire LaBelle Stebbins and Roland spend most of their time with family and friends. They continue to play golf week- ly. Claire would welcome visits from Skidmore girls traveling through New England. Harriet Johnson Toadvine and Steve have been “filling the holes in their buck- et list.” These included a Viking cruise on the Danube River, several days in Dresden, and a week in Berlin in October. They also enjoyed a Silver Seas trip to South America over the winter. Sandy Eilser Wohlberg and Cliff spent the winter at Hunters Run in Boyton Beach, Fla. Like many of us, she was sad to hear of the death of Bobbi Marolla Roberts, her roommate at Skidmore. Bobbi was, in Sandy’s words, “a ray of sunshine to all she met.” We extend our sympathy to Florence Elman Horne, who lost her husband of 56 years, Roy. We lost many good friends last year, including Carolyn Blumer Gaieck, whose daughter Paula informed me that her mother died on August 14. Paula said her mother often shared fond memories of her Skidmore days.

I am also saddened to report the death

of Barbara Hurley Melville on July 15. Last year I was appointed town historian by our town board, and my freshman roommate, Emily Blake, came out for a short visit in August. My granddaughter Julia Averill Hutson ’13 has been work- ing for a NYC law firm, while her brother James returned from school in Stavanger, Norway, to attend the University of Virginia. I love being retired; I enjoy cooking, reading the New York Times, poli- tics, spending time with my bichon frisé, and collecting buttons.
