Genevieve Gerard Conroy lives at the White Sands retirement community in La Jolla, Calif., where she has ready access to medical care. Last year she had an abdominal obstruction that led to sur- gery and a month of rehab, but she is back to driving, cooking, volunteering, and keeping up with the stock market.
