GOODBYE 2016...
Tony Plaskow, Commercial Director BLACK COW TECHNOLOGY
What has been the biggest occurrence for your company in 2016? 2016 has been a transformational year for Black Cow and, having
only had one previous commercial partnership (which ended in early 2016) we signed two new deals. One is with a globally recognised IP-licensor in the egaming space and the other with The Games Company – both will be using Black Cow’s Open Gaming Architecture software (‘OGA’) to deliver premium content into Europe’s key operators and platforms.
What do you think was the most important occurrence for the industry in 2016?
I think the most important occurrence
was something very subtle and basic – the seamless and subtle transformation of most egaming businesses from ‘traditional’ web-based services to mobile- first. With so many years waiting and planning for the ‘explosion of mobile’
what has happened has been that mobile has become an integral part of all our operational thinking to such an extent that we, as an industry segment, no longer need to separate it from other business areas. This is important for understanding and future-proofing egaming for the foreseeable period where players will be driven entirely from and through mobile channels.
What are you most excited about for Black Cow in 2017? 2017 will be Black Cow’s break-out year with our first two partners going live in Q2 and Q3 hopefully. It will greatly increase our exposure and we are excited to see how our software starts to change peoples’ perceptions around the ease of building interactive casino content and the ability to innovate and test new formats without the large time and resource costs currently needed with legacy game server offerings. We firmly believe our OGA software framework will shape how future casino content is built.
Anything else you’d like to say about the passing of 2016 and 2017’s arrival? Bring it on!
What are you most excited about for the industry in 2017? I think 2017 is going to be exciting for collaborations between some of the larger operators and platforms with more flexible and innovative software and content companies. There is a slow but definitive move away
from single-supplier mentalities to a far more module approach where various sets of software and platforms/frameworks are interwoven into a more bespoke structure.
We believe Black Cow is at the forefront of that movement with our Open Gaming Architecture game server offering
