predicted noise level at the nearest residential receptor including embedded mitigation, as outlined in Table 26.2.

118. The results show that predicted noise levels from the HDD at the landfall location would be of medium magnitude on receptors of medium sensitivity and therefore impacts would be ofmoderate adverse significance.

119. To reduce potential construction noise impacts at the Ferry Road receptors where the impact magnitude is predicted to be medium, a solid site boundary hoarding fence, approximately 2.4m in height, will be erected prior to commencement of landfall operations and remain in place until the works are completed on the landfall.

120. BS5228 states that where a barrier completely screens line-of-sight of a noise source, a reduction of around 10dB can be expected. Any barrier should be of a substantial construction, with no holes or gaps and be approximately 10kg/m2 in density

121. Table 26.18 presents the residual impact of the landfall operations on the Ferry Road residences, providing the mitigation outlined in Section 121 is fully implemented.

122. Table 26.18 demonstrates that a negligible residual impact is predicted for the landfall operations near the Ferry Road residences following the deployment of proposed mitigation.

Impact 2: Increased noise on residential receptors during onshore cable works Scenario 1: Pre-installed Ducts

123. Under Scenario 1, as part of East Anglia ONE suitable ducts will have been installed for use by the East Anglia THREE project. As a result the approach to cable installation is comparatively light with respect to the use of noise generating
