representation of the noise impact associated with East Anglia THREE and increase the original predicted rated receptor levels by 3dB.
74.
Under Scenario 2 the East Anglia THREE converter station is operational alone. As the converter station proposed for East Anglia THREE is similar to that for East Anglia ONE it is considered appropriate to use the converter station modelling results obtained in the East Anglia ONE ES as an accurate representation of the noise impact associated with East Anglia THREE.
75.
For both scenarios the predictive noise model and calculations are provided as Appendix 26.1.
76. Where background noise levels are considered 'very low' (BS4142), predicted noise levels exceed 35dB(A) including tonal penalty. Where noise levels are not considered very low, predicted noise levels exceed 5dB below the background noise levels.
77.
BS 4142 states that an exceedance of background noise levels by 5dBA is of “marginal significance” and an exceedance of 10dBA is “likely to cause complaints”. Due to the tonality of converter station noise a 5dBA correction penalty was applied to all predicted rating levels at receptor locations.
78.
To identify the significance of any potential noise and vibration impacts the sensitivity of each receptor was considered based on the criteria provided within Table 26.9.
79. The definition of the magnitude levels for a receptor is given in Table 26.12.
