Potential Impacts during Construction Impact 1: Increased noise on residential receptors at landfall Scenario 1: Pre-installed ducts

112. Under Scenario 1 it is assumed that East Anglia ONE project has been constructed. Consequently the ducts required for East Anglia THREE are pre-installed. As a result under the worst case, short HDD installation, the works on site will require access to the beach for tracked plant to enable the landfall trenching of the cable and to assist in pulling the cable through the pre-installed duct to make landfall at the transition pits.

113. There will also be a requirement for temporary works associated with the Onshore Cable Route and converter station enabling works for example the establishment of a haul road and Construction Consolidation Sites (CCSs)

114. As a worst-case scenario, it has been assumed that at the landfall location construction plant equipment will be required during normal daylight working hours for duration of 10 weeks. Table 26.16 presents the predicted noise level at the nearest residential receptor including embedded mitigation, as outlined in Table 26.2.

115. The results show that predicted noise levels from construction works at the landfall location would be of negligible magnitude on receptors of medium sensitivity and therefore impacts would be of negligible significance.

Scenario 2: Trenching and installing ducts

116. Under Scenario 2 it is assumed at landfall a HDD compound will be constructed to permit the use of HDD equipment to drill under the shoreline and install ducts into which East Anglia THREE cables can be pulled. In addition suitable ducts for East Anglia FOUR will also be installed as part of East Anglia THREE work. Access to the shore by tracked plant will also be required to assist in cable landing and pulling operations.

117. As a worst-case scenario, HDD has been assumed to be in operation at the landfall location for 24 hours a day for duration of 10 weeks. Table 26.17 presents the
