PBA Xtra By Gianmarc Manzione
MARK ROTH’S BIGGEST BATTLE
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Six years after suffering a severe stroke, the PBA Tour legend still is fighting the battle of his life.
M
ark Roth is an immortal trapped in the body of a man. His achievements are too great to be forgotten, but his
2009 stroke abbreviated a career he wished to continue.
That is the thing about severe stroke.
It strikes its victims out of nowhere, no matter who they are or how many people
know their names. Then it leaves them at the mercy of damage no doctor can undo. New stars have risen since the days when no star rose higher than Roth’s. Stars like Sean Rash, Jason Belmonte, Bill O’Neill. Or younger players whose names one day may define their generation the way Roth defined his—names like Marshall Kent or
E.J. Tackett.
