THE SKINNY ON THE LATEST AND GREATEST

54 Hook 17 Length 16 Breakpoint Shape RADICAL: YETI UNCAGED

Manufacturer’s Intent: According to the manufacturer, this is the strongest-reacting Yeti ball. It’s designed for medium patterns, where it should work well from inside lines. The core is designed to accept a wide range of drilling patterns.

Core: The Yeti symmetric core produces an RG minimum of 2.482, with a differential of .054. We saw about four to five inches of flare.

Coverstock: The purple and gold pearlized resin, with a twist of a new flip additive, comes sanded with a 500 Siaair micropad, followed by Royal Compound and topped off with Royal Shine. The effective surface grit is 4800, with an RA value of 2.7.

Overview: The newest Yeti in the Radical Reliable line brings the bowler a lot of bang for

the buck. It pushes cleanly through the fronts and is the strongest ball in the backend we have seen from Radical to date. The motion off the breakpoint is strong and angular, but with visible smoothness to make it predictable. It comple- ments the Yeti Unleashed (March 2014) extreme- ly well when the Unleashed starts to burn up or hook too much. This ball creates lots of pin action. When you watch the Uncaged go through the pins, you will see a strong ball that maintains its energy all the way through the pin deck. On Stone Street, Kegel’s longer house pattern, it rolled up off the breakpoint strongly. We were five boards farther left with our feet, and two at arrows, than we were with the Reax Gusto (July 2014). The cover allowed us to get easily lined up on the USBC Doubles/Singles pattern with hold inside and recovery to the right. We opened up the lighter house pattern very nicely. We got

in deep and where we had length with a lot of recovery off the breakpoint. This is a lot of ball for the price, and gives lower rev players the back- end reaction they need with less work.
