THE SKINNY ON THE LATEST AND GREATEST

53 Hook 15 Length 15 Breakpoint Shape TRACK: TOUR SIC

Manufacturer’s Intent: According to Track, the Tour Sic is intended to provide tournament players with a unique offering for a wide range of lane conditions, especially where great back-end recovery is needed.

Core: The symmetrical I-Core produces a high RG of 2.59 with a differential of .032. We had about 3 inches of flare with our layouts.

Coverstock: The Tour Sic is wrapped up with the dark blue MR-6 solid reactive. It comes out of the factory finished with 500 and then 3000 grit Abralon. We measured an effective surface grit of 1500 with an RA value of 22.93.

Overview: The Tour Sic is the solid comple- ment to the Tour X (June 2014). This is a versatile ball for various medium lane conditions from

different angles. It gets through the fronts eas- ily on the USBC Doubles/Singles pattern, with a strong but predictable back-end reaction. We were able to play around the third arrow and feed it out to the track with some hold. It would have been a great first ball out of the bag this year at nationals. The Tour Sic rolled well on the longer, heavier Stone Street pattern. We played from 12 to the 8-board with miss room right and nice hold left as it read the backend well with a strong drive through the pin deck. The Tour Sic keeps the pins low and creates good pin action. It was five boards more on Stone Street and the USBC pattern than the Tour X. For a ball with a solid reactive coverstock, the Tour Sic produced a surprisingly strong break from a deeper angle on the light house pattern. We were in around 20 at the arrows and could get the ball out to 8 at the breakpoint, according to CATS. From there,

“For a ball with a solid reactive coverstock, the Tour Sic produced a surprisingly strong break from a deeper angle on the light house pattern.”

the ball kept driving through the pins without losing energy. This is a great benchmark ball for anyone needing that “read the pattern” ball, and especially for bowlers needing a good number one ball for league on medium patterns. High rev players are going to love this ball because of the matte finish, which provides a strong, smooth and predictable motion through the backend.
