Sensor Technology 63 Multipoint Scanning Snow Sensor Reliably Detects the Onset of a
Snow Event Campbell Scientifi c are pleased to introduce the SDMS-30, a powerful and cost-effective 2D multipoint, laser-based snowfall sensor. The SDMS-30 snow gauge captures raw data at 36 sample points along a circular shaped path, before applying fi ltering and processing algorithms to report a meaningful average snow depth; the 36 individual measurements can also be reported.
The multipoint measurement system allows the SDMS-30 to be used on natural ground or on snow plates with the system auto-zeroing based on the 36 measurements points. The system automatically ignores from its average any sample points that measure outside of expected change parameters, for instance, if obstructed.
A key feature of the device is its ability to quickly and reliably detect the onset of a snow event – both snowfall and snowmelt. The device has been extensively fi eld proven over three harsh Canadian winters before being brought to market.
The sensor features SDI-12 communication for simple operation along with RS232 and RS485. With a compact design, installation is straight- forward with the device simply attaching to a mast, tower or other structure and the unit can easily be integrated with an existing weather station.

New Infrared Sensor Now Available for SF6, CO2
For More Info, email: email:
Sensors Europe GmbH, a German OEM gas bench manufacturer with more than 40 years of experience in infrared gas sensing, is pleased to announce its new Gasmitter product line.
Gasmitter is also available for Sulphur Hexafl uoride measurement in range of 0-1000 ppm for gas leakage
detection or in range of 0-100 Vol.-% for Sulphur Hexafl uoride fi ll level measurement. Gasmitter’s smart averaging fi lter enables a quick measurement for leakage detection while a stable signal is given for fi ll level measurement.
Gasmitter comes along with a linear signal output (4-20mA analogue & RS232 digital), a temperature- and pressure compensation as a standard (0-50°C and 800-1200mbar). Its size is minimised to 160mm x 50 mm to enable integration in a wide range of analysers and handheld applications.

, HC or CO Measurement ATEX/IECEx Heads with Cyber Electronics and Sensor
The NET3 Cyber Head, from N.E.T. is a stainless steel enclosure that has been developed and ATEX/IECEx certifi ed for use as a component of a fi xed fl ammable gas detection system or as a full conformity fi eld device. It comprises a stainless steel fl ameproof enclosure constructed with an integral stainless steel sinter fi lter guaranteeing safe entry of the atmosphere being detected (2G protection).
Combustible dust and IP protection available on request using separate adapter (2GD protection). The enclosure is available also in aluminium if requested.
The NET3 model is decomposable and the sensor can be replaced at the end of its life time. The enclosure is fi tted with an external thread at the front end to allow easy fi tting of accessories. A choice of standard rear mounting threads is available.
Main features are: 4-20 mA output for analogue systems, RS485 (Modbus) for digital addressable
systems, Signal outputs for fault and supply for external keypad, Compatible with NET IR, EC and pellistor sensors, Supplied complete with a sensor confi gured and pre-calibrated. Special ranges supplied on request, Simple in-fi eld calibration, Full software support available, and ATEX or IECEx certifi ed stainless steel or aluminium fl ameproof Ex d enclosure.
ATEX & IECEx Certifi ed NDIR Sensor for CO2

The IR series of infrared gas detection sensors, from N.E.T. use the technique of NDIR (Non Dispersive Infrared) to monitor the presence of hydrocarbons or carbon dioxide. This technique is based on the fact that the gas has an unique and well defi ned light absorption curve in the infrared spectrum that can be used to identify the specifi c gas. The gas concentration can be determined by using a suitable infrared source and analysing the quantity of energy absorbed from the gas inside the optical path. The IRNEX-P Low Power sensor is equipped with electronics and fi rmware in order to provide an output that is linearised and temperature compensated. The output is analogue voltage type [0.4 V—2 V] dc (other voltages are available on request). The IRNEX-P Low Power sensor has been tested and certifi ed according to the ATEX directive and IECEx. IRNEX – P is now SIL2 approved. The main features are: explosion proof Ex d IR sensor for surface (II 2G) and underground (I M2) classifi ed areas, analogue voltage standard output, incorporated signal linearisation and temperature compensation suited for manufacturers without any specialist knowledge in IR technology, standard sensor size 20 mm, fast response, solid, rugged construction, wide operating temperature and humidity range (-40°C / + 60°C), low power consumption (45mA) and new optics “Nautilus”.
