Solinst Canada Ltd. is pleased to announce the latest release in their datalogger series—the Model 3001 LTC Levelogger Edge. The LTC Levelogger Edge is a compact instrument that provides reliable datalogging of water level, temperature, and conductivity measurements.
The LTC Levelogger Edge offers a number of upgraded features over previous LTC versions, including an 8-year battery life, memory for 27,000 sets of readings, higher accuracy and 6 pressure ranges. It also features a Titanium ceramic PVD corrosion resistant coating and a 3-year warranty.
The 4-electrode platinum conductivity sensor has a wider calibrated conductivity range, with autoranging from 0 to 100,000 µS/cm. Calibration is from 50 to 80,000 µS/cm, with an accuracy of ±1% above 30,000 µS/cm, ±2% between 500 and 30,000 µS/cm, and ±30 µS below 500 µS/cm.
The LTC Levelogger Edge also features greater functionality when programmed using Solinst Levelogger Software or the Solinst Levelogger App. The LTC Edge can be programmed in linear sampling mode, scheduled or event-based. There are options for programming a future start and stop time, as well as viewing real-time readings.
The LTC Levelogger Edge is compatible with Solinst Levelogger accessories including the DataGrabber data transfer device and Solinst Levelogger App and Interface. It can also be used with a Solinst LevelSender telemetry system for remote wireless monitoring with data sent via email or SMS.
The LTC Levelogger Edge is ideal for monitoring salinity and saltwater intrusion studies; road salt, agricultural and stormwater run-off monitoring; tracer tests, and providing a general indication of water quality.

Meter developed by SOMMER Messtechnik allows to measure the discharge and flow rate of technical channels, semi-filled pipes, ducts, and shafts without even touching the water. Ever since it’s been a challenge to measure flow without going into the water. This new sensor proofs different. It uses the latest radar and ultrasonic technology to permanently capture the water level and the flow velocity. Based on an advanced hydraulic model and according to the actual water level, the SQ then is able to calculate the exact flow rate of the waterbody.
Based on SOMMER’s long lasting experience in hydrology and environmental monitoring the new SQ is especially dedicated for wastewater and sewage applications. Temporarily submersible, with a tight and water-proof housing that is resistant to also aggressive environments and fluids, it is a perfect fit for wastewater treatment plants as well as industrial applications and monitoring of cooling or process water. There is not mounting-construction inside the water needed and different interface connections such as RS-485, SDI-12, Modbus, pulse signal or analogue signal allow an easy system integration with any PLC.

Early identification of Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) is key to mitigating their effects and protecting public health. Turner Designs’ CyanoFluor is a new handheld fluorometer equipped with optics for detecting chlorophyll (CHL) and phycocyanin (PC) responses from natural water samples. CyanoFluor uses these responses to calculate and report a PC to CHL ratio for estimating the relative abundance of cyanobacteria within a phytoplankton population. By monitoring PC to CHL ratios over time, users can tell whether environmental conditions are changing, favoring cyanobacterial production which typically leads to the formation of HABs. CyanoFluor also provides raw fluorescence readings, which can be used to estimate chlorophyll concentrations.
