50 Gas Detection Emissions Monitoring Conference Topics Announced

The fi rst day of the AQE 2017 conference will address the monitoring of diffi cult gases and dust components in industrial emissions, with presentations from an international panel of experts. AQE 2017 will take pace in Telford (UK) on 24th and 25th May and registration is now available at www. AQEshow.com.

The conference will begin with a regulatory update on the Industrial Emissions Directive, with subsequent presentations on the challenge presented by the monitoring requirements for SO2

, and the

impact of new EN Standards on the acid gases HF and HCl, including an overview of the current status of test methods and instruments. The advantages of direct gas measurements with a feedback process loop for Ammonia slip monitoring will be described, in addition to the challenges and possible solutions to the calibration and measurement of particulates at low concentrations.

The afternoon sessions will begin with a presentation on a technology which combines gravimetric PM measurement with real-time diffusion charging and current measurement for indoor, outdoor and combustion source measurement. Mercury monitoring and calibration will then be discussed by a number of speakers, including experiences from the United States in relation to the European CEN that is currently being developed.

The fi nal speaker of the day will explain how gaseous and liquid fuels can be treated with fi xed bed absorbents at ambient temperature to remove H2

available at www.AQEshow.com.

The second day of AQE 2017 will also feature a Conference with an emissions monitoring theme. The Renewable Energy Association will run a morning seminar on ‘Controlling and Monitoring Emissions on Waste Management Sites.’ Rupert Standring from the Environment Agency will explain the new M9 Technical Guidance for monitoring Bioaerosols, and Catherine Rolph from the Open University will outline Worker Protection Strategies against bioaerosols. A speaker from Odournet will describe the design and maintenance of biofi lters for effective odour mitigation, and Jennifer Watts will describe the legal obligations of a site operator for emissions control and odour monitoring.

Pre-registered visitors to AQE 2017 will benefi t from free parking, refreshments and lunch, and free access to the AQE 2017 Exhibition and Workshops. However, there are charges for attending the Conferences:

Day 1 (24th May) AQE industrial emissions monitoring - £55 +VAT Day 2 (25th May) REA monitoring waste management site emissions - £55 +VAT

Day 2 (25th May) IAPSC ambient air pollution monitoring - £155 +VAT (non-members). Attendance may be more cost-effective by joining IAPSC – see www.iapsc.org.uk. For More Info, email:

Small in Size, Huge in Performance - Expanded Gas Detector Range Small in Size, Huge

in Performance - The LRM-202 (TO46 housing) and the LRM- 254 (TO39 housing) expand InfraTec’s range of miniaturised multi-channel detectors. In their cap a central window has been added, that can be soldered to the housing to create a complete hermetic seal. The channel fi lters are placed inside the detectors. There, they are shielded from mechanical and physical stress as well as from other strains from harsh environments. While the fi eld of view is signifi cantly wider, more radiation reaches the pyroelectric element and allows a higher signal. Therefore, the whole series proves to be extremely powerful. Being thermally compensated these detectors are suitable for gas analysis and leakage detection and can be used in stationary and portable devices.

Standard features include, a full colour, LCD touch screen with LED indicators for Power, Status and Fault, a door mounted audible alarm, an extensive menu structure with password protection, a USB port for fi rmware upgrades and data downloads, four internal 5-amp, dry contact relays, two confi gurable switch inputs and two strobe/horn output drives. The built-in data logging capabilities have a large capacity memory for saving all channel readings, confi guration changes and transition data. The FCS has a maximum of 32 priorities which can be confi gured to defi ne the relationships between the channels and the relays, allowing up to. Up to three conditions can be assigned to each relay. Channels can be assigned to report their Low, Medium, High and/or Fault statuses which in turn can be confi gured to trigger one re more relays to act on one or more of those statuses and channels. The logic control and fl exibility of the priority levels is immense, allowing numerous monitoring and alarming confi gurations.

Optional, value added features include, internal analogue inputs (AI) and/or analogue outputs (AO), a top mounted strobe and a locking door. The FCS, like our new suite of products, uses our signature black enclosure that is IP54 rated when the optional water tight buzzer is installed at time of order.

Depending on the type and size of the application, the FCS may require additional devices to create the complete system. For networks that extend over a large area there is the potential for data noise and a reduction in the signal. The LNK-XT Network Extender is a signal booster that extends the range of the Modbus communications. An LNK-XT is recommended every 610m (2000ft) and up to 6 of these devices can be used on one FCS network. For very large system application and/or very long wire runs, the Remote Power Supply is available to boost the voltage and provide a renewed amount of power to compensate for voltage drops. The RPS-24VDC converts 90-240 VAC power to 24 VDC power. If more than the four internal relays are needed, two remote devices are available - the RLY-4 which offers four contacts and the RLY-8 that offers eight. All relays are rated at 5 amps. A maximum of 56 relays can be accommodated by the FCS. In the event that the optional internal analog inputs and/or analogue outputs are insuffi cient, there two peripheral devices, the LNK-AI and the LNK-AO available. The LNK-AI offers 4 analogue inputs and the LNK-AO offers 4 analogue outputs. Depending on the internal AI and AO confi gurations, up to a maximum of 14 LNK-AO and 14 LNK-AI devices can be connected to the FCS.

The FCS is ideal for use in large, enclosed parking facilities, indoor recreation facilities, food processing plants, refrigeration plants, chemical storage rooms, manufacturing plants and many more.
