The scale is based on the “greatest breadth” of the skull given by True (1907) as 7.5 in. Unfortunately, that dimension does not proportionately correspond to the maximum length of the skull given as 14.5 in. The greatest breadth dimension was chosen to calibrate the scale in this image because based on what is preserved that dimension could not be any larger, whereas some of the original measured length of the skull could have been lost prior to this illustration having been made. Scale bar represents 10 cm.
