Business News President’s Focus
This month’s President’s Focus is taken over by Kevin Johns, the newly- installed president of Solihull Chamber. Kevin is a director and shareholder of Prime Accountants Group, one of the largest independent firms of chartered accountants and business advisers in the region with offices in Solihull and Coventry. He is passionate about developing the business community within Solihull and is well placed to represent the views of its business community and help in the promotion and shaping of the borough.
As long-standing members of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, we have always seen value in our membership, which opens the door to the wide variety of benefits the Chamber is able to offer its members. From a young age we all learn
by association, by surrounding ourselves with those more experienced than us. The Chamber will broaden professional networks where you can meet and ask questions of those who have already walked the road you are embarking down. Established businesses should
‘Any Chamber is only as good as its members and thankfully we are fortunate to have hundreds of fantastic members in Solihull’
also use the Chamber as their number one resource for business advice. Over my 30-plus years in business I have often found the best businesses are those that consistently work ON their business not just IN their business. The Chamber members, board and staff can act as a vital
platform to discuss ideas and plans and provide professional assistance. The business community in Solihull is thriving - something
here at Prime we have always relished being a part of. An example of how Prime uses the Chamber to improve
our business is through our involvement in the sector focus groups, in our case Professional Services. This group discusses issues and problems that we all face in business and the Chamber provides the platform to share ideas and solutions and work together to create a more efficient environment. Examples of results from these meetings have been
the introduction of new regular networking events in the town centre, increased social media coverage and training courses covering ‘soft skills’. Any Chamber is only as good as its members and thankfully we are fortunate to have hundreds of fantastic members in Solihull. Members feed through their views, thoughts and
concerns for the future of their business. The Chamber provides the members with a voice as they pass this valuable information to the local authority so they can consider issues and, we like to believe, take action accordingly. Solihull is a welcoming place to do business and the Chamber provides the perfect platform to meet and further involvement with the local business community. I would encourage all businesses to contact the Chamber and discuss their circumstance and those already in membership to embrace the options available.
