EASY RELISH FOR BONFIRE NIGHT BANGERS
This sweet and sticky relish makes the most of some of autumn’s great seasonal ingredients: from chopping to melting to drizzling, there’s plenty of prep that kids can help with. 1 butternut squash 2 red onions 3-4 cloves of garlic 3 English eating apples 25g salted butter A little olive oil Salt and pepper 4-5 tbsp maple syrup
1 Heat your oven to 200C / Gas 6.
2 Remove the skin from
the squash then cut into 4cm chunks.
3 Slice the onion (not too thinly), fi nely chop the garlic, then quarter and core the apples – you can leave the skins on.
4 Melt the butter along with the olive oil.
5 Place everything on a roasting tray, adding the melted butter and olive oil, salt and pepper and maple syrup, and cook for 20-30 minutes.
6 Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed – you might want to add a little more maple syrup.
7 Serve warm or cold, as a relish with your Bonfi re Night bangers.
