U3A Oliva Walking Group Members from the U3A Oliva Walking Group spent an enjoyable day in the hills above Senija, a small village near Benissa.
We made our way up the mountain and along the top to the Cruz of Senija, where we had wonderful views over Senija and beyond to the Calpe Ifach rock and further south to the Puig Campana. Next we made our way over the hilltop to the Garganta Cueva. Tona and his band of Bandolers reportedly used the cave. They waited on traders travelling down the valley then go down and rob them of their goods, then returned back up the cliff face to the cave to store the booty. The Garganta cave is well named, as it is massive inside. The picture shows some of our walking group at the entrance to the cave.
