Calpe Beacon - supporting local underprivileged children
Calpe Beacon is a group of friends and volunteers, living in Calpe or its environs who have banded together to raise funds to help local underprivileged children.
We have successfully raised over 3000€ since April 2015. This has enabled us to sponsor all the children in the Calpe care home to have summer leisure trips to local attractions. These visits included Aqualandia and Terra Mitica. We were also able to supply urgently needed sports equipment, classroom equipment and Christmas treats.

Calpe Beacon is pleased to announce it is now a registered charity. Surprisingly very few charities who raise vital support for children in care are registered. Being registered ensures the organisation is regulated and open to scrutiny, this being entirely compatible with our ethos of total transparency of activity, funding and expenditure. It also allows contributors, both private and commercial, to offset contributions against tax.
Fund raising is achieved by regular subscription of members, individual donations, fund raising events, social gatherings and commercial sponsorship.
The recipients of funds will be primarily children in the care of EMAUS, specifically the Calpe home for children. It is not intended to subscribe to the general budget of EMAUS, but to direct support to the individual needs of children in care. The aim is to provide items
or activities not
normally catered for in the strained budgets of EMAUS.
For example sporting and leisure activities, educational training
support, programmes
for development in future careers, transitional
help from
care to independence, and birthday and Christmas gifts. The intention is to add value to the quality of the lives of children in care.
Get involved or learn more
We would like to do much more and are looking for additional help within our local community. This could involve donations of clothes and bric a brac for our summer fair, fold up tables, gazebos and help running a regular rastro. We would welcome sponsors, donations, new members and friends.
