in having micro-blading to allow them time to make an informed decision.
It is a big decision, micro-blading falls into the category of permanent makeup and although it will fade, it will not disappear entirely. Which leads me to the next query, What would happen if a customer was unhappy with the work carried out. If the procedure has been carried out correctly it would be extremely unlikely for this to happen. I begin by measuring using a specially designed caliper, no micro-blading is started until my customer is 100% happy with the drawn work. I then apply anaesthetic cream to the area, which takes 15 minutes to work during which time we discuss colour and pigments. Finally we micro-blade the brows which takes 45-60 mins.
During the treatment I give the customer a number of opportunities to see the work I am doing so they are confident that there will be no nasty surprises at the end. It is important a technician does not impose her own will over a customers, but helps using her own knowledge to ensure the customer gets what they want and feels they looks like their ideal self. Aesthetics are very subjective and what someone likes another does not, it is the client’s face not the technicians. If a technician isn’t happy with what the client is asking for and knows she wouldn’t be happy for people to know she had done the work then she shouldn’t take on the work. This should all be fully covered at the consultation. It is possible to remove permanent make-up and I am fully trained in saline removal but obviously it is much better to get it right in the first place. That being said, there are times when I have customers who have had previous work done with another technician that requires correction. Depending on the depth of colour and correction needed, I can sometimes work over the top, or remove the work and then create a new look. Building a strong reputation means staying true to your beliefs and goals. Surely there must be times when a customer requests something that a technician is unwilling to do. For example a very unnatural/dramatic look? With permanent make up it is not about following fashion trends but subtly enhancing or replacing someone’s natural features. It is important to understand the individual personality, lifestyle and look of the person I am treating. This is one of the reasons I conduct a pre-treatment consultation. It helps me to work out if I will be able to create the look that will make the customer happy. I have in the past turned away clients who have requested eyebrows that are “on trend” as they simply will not complement their features. I explain that while, for example, a thick brow may be popular now, next year when they change to skinny brows they will be very hard to change.
And so in summary, remember that permanent makeup is exactly that ... permanent! Choose your technician carefully to avoid problems in the future.
