Fundraising is just the ticket for bus firm

Charity Link teams with First Leicester

Food bank users to get free bus travel

First Leicester has joined forces with Charity Link, which supports people in poverty, hardship or crisis, to offer free bus travel to vulnerable individuals and families who need to visit the charity’s city centre food bank. The food bank provides food and

toiletries to eligible individuals and families with little or no income. The charity found that many

clients were walking long distances to get the provisions they needed. But they can now get vouchers to use the bus. Tim Adkin, Charity Link’s Food

Bank Coordinator, said: “We are delighted that we will now be able to provide further support by offering free bus travel and are very grateful to First Leicester.”

A year of fundraising by bus company trentbarton for the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance has ended with glasses being raised at Nottingham’s Magpie Brewery. trentbarton’s charity of the

year for 2015 has benefited by 6p from every pint of Magpie’s special Night Flyer golden ale sold during the year. The fundraising brew was a

collaboration by the bus company and the brewery to support the Air Ambulance while encouraging pub goers to ‘drink & ride’ their way home on trentbarton’s nightbus services. More than 12,000 pints were

drunk during the year – raising £700 for the charity. When added to the money

generated by a year’s fundraising – including a naked calendar, a mud race challenge, sales of mince pies and bacon butties – the Air Ambulance has received almost £6,000.
