Contractor Willmott Dixon has started work on a £4m project to deliver more than 200 new school places in Braunstone Town and Leicester Forest East. The new Discovery Fossebrook


Primary School will open for Foundation, Year One and Year Two pupils in September. It will eventually provide places for up to 210 children. Nick Heath, Operations Director for Willmott Dixon in


the East Midlands, said: “A lack of school places is something local authorities across the country are currently dealing with and the new Fossebrook school will help ease the pressure on schools in this area of Leicestershire.” Councillor Ivan Ould, County Council Cabinet

Wade will appoint staff and work with her new team to prepare the school for its first pupil intake. Mrs Wade said: “I am delighted to have been given


the opportunity to lead the development of Discovery Fossebrook Primary School as it takes its place in the local community. “My goal is to provide excellence in all areas of


primary provision for all pupils and families who make this their school of choice.” The single-storey school is being built by Wilmott


Dixon at Holmfield Avenue West, in Leicester Forest East, on land already owned by the council.


Lodge Lane, is undergoing a transformation into an airy and spacious open plan layout. The refurbishment will include


the addition of a glazed atrium as well as a new conference room on the building’s top floor. Mike Thorne, Director at Innes England, said: “Nelsons had been located at Sterne House for a long time but the building was in need of modernisation. Having looked carefully at the options they decided refurbishment would deliver what they were looking for.” Nelsons staff moved out in 2015 and will move back early this year.
