Maintenance free bolting solution for wind turbines
A long-term analysis of more than 3.000 ultrasonic measurements on wind turbines over 18 months prove IHF fasteners to be maintenance free.
INNOVATIVE FASTENERS
The innovative fasteners IHF Stretchbolt and IHF Roundnut were designed for bolt connections of steel constructions, which are mainly subjected to tensile loads for example on flange tower bolt connections of wind turbine towers or on foundation bolts.
MAINTENANCE FREE
These precise results have the effect that the bolt connections with IHF fasteners do not have to be maintained such as conventional HV bolt connections (high-strength bolt connection) – these fasteners can therefore be called ‘maintenance free’.
CASE STUDY
More than 3.000 ultrasonic measurements of a 18 month in-field analysis on wind turbine towers prove that the required assembly preloads (FM) are within a close tolerance and consistently above the required preloads of 70% according to the DASt 021 (German steel construction guideline).
This significantly saves costs – especially if they are applied in offshore turbine applications.
