OPTIMISING FINANCIAL RETURNS

STUB FOUNDATION

Peikko are experts in the design, manufacture and execution of stub foundations, which are used to maximise yield by achieving consented height, thus optimising financial returns.

GLOBAL REACH

The group operates in 33 countries and has supplied anchors to onshore wind turbines since the 1990s. In response to customers’ requirements to extend base height, stub foundations have been developed and supplied over the past few years.

Stub foundation comprises gravity foundation with extension reaching up to 10 metres. The extension part is cast in situ reinforced concrete with solid or hollow inside and is post tensioned with anchor bolts. The anchor bolts then connect to tower flange in a similar manner to a standard gravity base. Casting of the stub foundation by the contractor is merely an extension of the gravity base, with re- usable formwork, standard concrete grade and basic reinforcement.

DESIGN EXPERTS

The wind engineering team are experts in wind turbine foundation and stub design. The design is customised for each project and turbine specification using internal software and flexible manufacture which ensures compliance to demanding project schedules.

It is possible to supply stubs of varying heights to the same project and no matter how many different stub heights are needed in the project the design and production process does not limit the variation and timetable.

THIRD PARTY CERTIFICATION The company can provide project based third party certification by TUV if required. Design and production experience and an efficient integration to flexible manufacturing gives Peikko the advantage of short lead time for customised designs in the UK, Ireland and worldwide.

The company also manufacture anchor and other steel components in European factories for the UK market and global supply chain serves projects worldwide.
