Half Moon Bow Pose by Sally Delisle
This is a grounding pose, a balance, a backbend and a bind. This pose has it all and leaves no space for a wandering mind. It insists the practicing yogi draw all attention inward, rooting down to find solid
While all of us teachers have our favorite poses, we were drawn to yoga for many different reasons. We have all found that as we began to practice yoga postures and exercises, we no- ticed small effects in the body, mind, and emotions. Over time the benefits have become much more significant, crossing over into so many aspects of our lives and helping us to live more fully in health and happiness. By pro- moting positive physical and mental change, yoga can help us transform our lives.
footing before the heart leads the way into an eventual backbend. Also known as Sugarcane pose, this sweet posture increases core strength and stretches the hips, legs abdomen, chest and more. As we practice balancing and develop the mental focus this requires, we find clarity of mind, and in those moments, peace.
Half Moon Pose by Megan Libonati
This pose strength- ens the feet,
ankles and glutes, and is also a hip-opening pose and deep stretch for the standing leg. Additionally, it can help stretch the shoulders and arms, lengthen the spine and torso and strengthen the abdominals. This varia- tion serves as a prime example of Half Moon’s most appealing trait: it can be propped and modified well for begin- ner students, yet it can also advance into more challenging and rewarding variations as we deepen our practice.
If I’m losing balance in a pose, I stretch higher and God reaches down to
steady me. It works every time, and not just in yoga. ~T. Guillemets
