Symbol Brings Contemporary Styling and Value to the Premium Mattress Segment

Pisarsky This Summer Las Vegas Market, Symbol Mattress is set to launch one of its most sig- nificant product collections in years—a new, four-model Unite line that signals a change in the strategic direction of the 53-year-old mattress producer. The new Unite hybrid program is ushering in Symbol’s venture into higher quality bed constructions and more sharply styled of- ferings, competitively priced from only $799 to $1,399 at retail. “We plan to remain aggressive at promo- tional levels that our customers are familiar with,” Mike McQuiston, executive vice presi- dent, explained, “but now we’re also going to offer more premium products with standout aesthetics that we believe retailers will find both attractive and very affordable.” The new Unite hybrid collection uses a new fabric- and foam-encased Millennial coil unit in combination with varying layers of gel-in- fused foams, memory foams, high-density poly foams and latex across the line. All of the beds, which range in height from 10 to 15 inches, incorporate a laminated foam support core at the base of the mattress. The top two models—Inspire and Rejuvenate—are coil-on coil beds that include the same Millennial coil system plus an additional and substantial fab- ric- and foam-encased coil unit, accounting for more than 2,000 coils per bed. “While coil counts alone are never the measure of a mattress, these two support systems—when used together and in combi- nation with premium comfort layers—provide plush and ultra-plush feels that are truly ex- ceptional, especially at queen retails that top out at only $1,199 and $1,399,” noted Mark Jannke, company vice president of product development. He went on to assert how this


new collection “embodies everything we want- ed to achieve,” further explaining how “we uti- lized our exclusive Millennial coil technology in more modern, smooth-top profiles; combined fabrics and fabric designs that give retailers trendy and appealing looks to sell; and we priced the line to move rapidly in stores.” Each bed in the collection, which includes a medium-firm introductory model called Renew and a plush-firm model named Connect, has its own fabric design. The entire Unite line-up uses smooth, zippered, cream-colored stretch- knit fabrics that Symbol cuts and sews. These knit covers on each model are contrasted with quilted, slate blue upholstery fabric appli- cations that vary with each bed. Unite model names are embroidered in a modern, sans ser- if font on the side panel at the foot-end. “With the fabric treatments and overall vi- sual appeal of the line,” Jannke explained, ”we believe the Unite series will represent one of the top mattress values retailers will find in Las Vegas.”


In keeping with its commitment to ad- justable-friendly products, Symbol is also showing a large selection of highly-pro- motable beds from only $99 to $399 in queen which can be used with motion bas- es. “These strong, starting adjustable pack- ages are intended for our customers to aggressively advertise and drive business,” said Jannke.
