Radio Song Festival – A Wonderful Evening in Yangon

yanmar and Yangon have proven to be worthy venues of the ABU Radio Song Festival held on 29 May 2015 in conjunction with RadioAsia Conference. It was


undoubtedly a wonderful evening of entertainment put on by the host broadcaster Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) and retransmitted live on one of its channels.


The ABU Radio Song Festival is a musical showcase from across Asia-Pacific. The Festival embraces and recognizes the diverse musical talents of nations within the region represented by the best original and unsigned musicians.


This is the third edition of the ABU Radio Song Festival. The inaugural Festival was held in Seoul in 2012 and the second edition in Colombo in 2014.


ABU Radio members provided the songs for the Festival. The best entrants were determined by an international selection committee and the selected artists performed at the Gala Event at the National Theatre of Yangon. There were 15 finalists coming from Brunei, India, Indonesia, Korea, Maldives, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The guest artists gave a special touch to the evening. They were vocalists Zaw Paing, Ah Moon, Ni Ni khin zaw and the traditional dancers from the Ministry of Culture.


Finally, it is worth mentioning that Ms Rosarita Niken Widiastuti, the President and Director of RRI-Indonesia who is also a famous singer in her country performed for the ABU at the gala night. She also invited the participants to attend the ABU General Assembly 2016 in Jakarta.
