NEW MEMBER Isis Waterside Regeneration
G
lasgow Chamber of Commerce welcomes Te Whisky Bond and Buchanan Castle
Golf Club. Te Whisky Bond, located at
Speirs Lock – just 10 minutes’ walk from both St George’s Cross and Cowcaddens Subway stations – is one of Glasgow’s leading commercial hubs for creative businesses. A seven-storey, 100,000 sq ſt
creative environment located on the Forth and Clyde Canal, it was built in 1957 by Highland Distilleries and was used as a bonded warehouse. Te property, later used as a
mushroom factory, has now been refurbished by a joint-venture deal led by Isis Waterside Regeneration and opened in 2012. Offering offices and studios
from 344 sq ſt to more than 3,200
sq ſt as well as a co-working space, ‘Te Distillery’, TWB is now home to a wide range of creative and cultural businesses, including Culture Republic, Fearsome Engine, Tens and Glasgow Sculpture Studios. Since refurbishment finished in
2014, more than 20 new tenants have moved in, proving the development’s fast-growing appeal to businesses and arts organisations alike. Tere is free car and bicycle parking, as well as pool bikes on site.
Te Distillery is an open-plan
space designed specifically for co-working and is aimed at fledgling businesses and freelancers who require flexibility and wish to work in a collaborative and inspiring space. Buchanan Castle Golf Club is
in a tranquil place half an hour from the city centre near the village
of Drymen and in the foothills of the Highlands. Designed by five-time Open
Championship winner James Braid in 1936, this leading course aims to offer players of different levels of ability an exceptional golfing challenge. Te course lies on the plain
of the River Endrick and has magnificent scenic backdrops including Ben Lomond and the Luss Hills with a view up to the Highlands. Te golf club lies on the
Buchanan Castle Estate, which hosts the ruins of the castle itself and every type of tree native to western Europe, five different types of oak and several Pacific Coast Redwoods. Te clubhouse was built on
the site of the ancient Buchanan House, home of the Buchanan family who had held lands beside
Loch Lomond since the 13th century.
Te Graham Family, Te Dukes
of Montrose, bought the estate in the 17th century, rebuilt much of it and has held it since that time. Te modern-day golf club also
hosts a floodlit 10-bay driving range, short game practice facilities and a refurbished clubhouse with notable catering facilities. Buchanan Castle Golf Club also
hosts facilities for non-golfers, such as corporate team-building events tailored to specific requirements, archery and falconry. Susan McKay, Head of
Partnership and Membership Operations at Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, said: “We are delighted to welcome these two new businesses and further add to the range of businesses with which members can network and seek opportunities.”
