Glasgow Airport

New flights to Budapest will boost tourism

Wizz Air is to introduce direct flights between Glasgow and the Hungarian capital of Budapest. It will also add flights to the Polish city of Lublin. It will be the first time Budapest has been served as a destination from Glasgow Airport and Wizz Air will operate a year-round, twice weekly service starting on 13 June 2015. The airline will operate a twice- weekly service to Lublin starting on 16 September 2015. Paul White, Business

Development Manager at Glasgow Airport, said: “This is fantastic news for the airport. Not only will Wizz Air’s new routes further strengthen our connectivity with Europe’s major cities, it has huge potential to generate significant inbound tourism for Glasgow. “It is important for Glasgow

to have regular, direct links with European markets. Budapest is one of Europe’s most popular city break destinations and will be a big draw for leisure travellers.”

Sporting legends came together recently to help raise over £60,000 for The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice at its 19th Annual Sportsman’s Dinner at Hilton Glasgow. More than 600 guests were

Leading school looks to future with £4m improvement plan

Leading Independent school Glenalmond College has announced a significant £4 million development programme which will include a range of projects to enhance the School’s facilities, infrastructure and heritage. who amused the crowd with stories about his life in football. Comedian Gary Marshall kept the guests entertained and the event was hosted by Peter Martin. Before dinner, guests

also enjoyed a fantastic performance by football freestyle duo F2 Freestyle.

The National Theatre of Scotland Stunning new centre is next stage for National Theatre

The National Theatre of Scotland has announced plans to revamp a former cash and carry building in the Speirs Wharf regeneration area of north- west Glasgow, to create a new centre for creativity, production and talent development.

In less than a decade, the company An artist’s impression of the new National Theatre of Scotland’s new headquarters

has become a major theatrical producing force on the Scottish, UK and international stage, with a world- class reputation and the new centre is the latest bold move. The National

Theatre of Scotland will develop the disused building in Glasgow’s Craighall Road and turn it into a major resource for the whole of the Scottish theatre industry. The canal-side building will provide approximately 40,000sqft of space over two levels. It will not be a performance

space, but a place where work can be devised, developed and rehearsed, and where the crucial supporting functions of set and costume-making can be located.
