As I write this (May, 2015), there is


great sadness looming in the music world. We are all born to die, and what we do with the time we are alive is how we will be remembered. Riley B. King – the singer,


songwriter, guitarist and Blues icon, B.B. King, was born on September 16 in 1925 on a cotton plantation near the town of Itta Bena, Mississippi. He died at home in Las Vegas, at the age of 89, on May 14, 2015. A kind and gentle man the 43 years


I knew and worked with him, he always cared about those around him in all stations of life. Just before his recent death, stories were buzzing in the press that he was in hospice care and relatives were claiming “elder abuse”. The last I heard was that the courts

had stepped in, looked at claims of elder abuse, found no evidence of such, and


denied his family the control of his affairs. B.B. released a note through his website saying: “I am ‘in home hospice care’ at my residence in Las Vegas. Thanks to you all for your well wishes and prayers –B.B. King.” B.B. will be mourned by me and by


generations of fans, and his legacy will last for generations to come. The same story, only different, is


unfolding for Canada’s Joni Mitchell. She remains hospitalized but alert and has “her full senses”, her website said on May 5th, contrary to reporting by
