hulapopper). I became a little frustrated, so I

headed to Walmart and every other tackle shop to see what I might try. After purchasing some rubber worms and lizards and an assortment of other plastic stuff, I went back to my ponds for the kill. My arms got sore from throwing

bait into the water – and still not a bite. FRUSTRATION! I happened to be talking to Brandon

Cuddy, who is the golf club manager at Pebble Creek (pebblecreekclub.com) and he started telling me about some great bass fishing in a pond by his place in north Tampa and at the many ponds around the golf course. And then he hit me with a picture of a 9 ½ pound largemouth he caught in the pond at the club’s third hole. Well, that was it. I recruited Brandon

as my guide to fish bass at the golf club. A few days later, I headed over to

catch a bass or two at Pebble Creek golf course, and as I waited for Brandon to arrive, I went into the golf watering hole called Mulligan’s Irish Pub. I talked to the manager, Jay, for a couple of minutes. After I told him what we were

doing, he went out to his car to get me a secret lure that he said would out-fish any redneck. He placed a Strike King Redfish Magic spinner bait in my hand and said it would catch the largest bass out there. Brandon arrived at the club with

Chris Ryan, another avid bass fisherman who works in the pro shop at Pebble Creek. Brandon mentioned that the bass were still on their spawning beds and should be primed for action. With fishing rods and tackle ready

to go, we took a couple of golf carts and off we went out to our first stop: the pond behind the twelfth green. The boys were using light green

plastic worms or lizards while I had on the Strike King spinner bait. After 20 or so casts and a few light hits, I got into a two pound largemouth. After a bit of a battle, I landed him for the first fish of the afternoon.
