flush the toilet. Then there are the tis- sues: I place them at strategic locations throughout the room;by the telephone (to cover the hand receiver when answering my wake-up calls); one on the night stand (I use this on light switches, closet door handles, when grasping clos- et hangers, and on the rods that open the curtains)…
The remote control (any hotel room’s Germ-Zero) gets wrapped in a plastic sandwich bag.
Then there’s the bed. I pull back the bot- tom sheet and expose the mattress (bed bug check). I look under the bed (just because). I’ll remove the comforter (Housekeeping washes the sheets, the comforter, though, is usually only cleaned but once a week). If possible, I’ll pack my own pillow.

Our awareness to our living quarter sur- roundings when staying in a hotel room varies. There are some who really are phobic - the thought of even touching the carpet becomes an impossibility, yet, to others, taking a nice hot bath or flop- ping down on the comforter is,well,no big deal.

Nancy’s division is based in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. “I expect the room to be properly cleaned and any trash removed from the bins and such,”she continues, “but it isn’t necessary for the cleaning staff to pick up after me (i.e. - if I leave a newspaper or magazine lying about - although I have had maids place them on desks or coffee tables in my room).

I guess I would expect the same of the housekeeping staff as I expect from myself!”
Nancy, too,can relate to the Hyatt brand in particular, and has had her own stand- out experience: “Last year I stayed at the Grand Hyatt in NewYork City for three
days. Each morning, upon returning to the room after breakfast, the room was cleaned and the beds were made. The particular maid that I had was extra gen- erous with the lotions, shampoos and conditioners in the bathroom, and she would leave us more than enough to take care of us in a day. The cleaning
