Baltimore, MD
Charm City is aptly named, playing host to tourists and convention goers alike who flock to this combination urban and waterfront set- ting. Home to the famed Inner Harbor, there is a lot to do in Baltimore and it makes for a very attractive convention destination.
The Baltimore Convention Center is at the heart of the city as a meeting destination. It is linked by a series of overhead walkways to the Inner Harbor, which offers fine dining, a num- ber of hotels, shopping opportunities, profes- sional sports stadiums, a world-class aquari- um, plus a variety of museums and attrac- tions.
The convention center itself boasts 300,000- square feet of contiguous exhibition space, numerous meeting rooms of various sizes and configurations, as well as a multifunctional and divisible ballroom of more than 36,000-square feet. The center can accommodate a variety of events, offering an optional, on site audio-visu- al provider, an on site caterer, a telecommuni- cations provider and a host of other services.
Baltimore is home to more than 8,500 hotel rooms within walking distance of the conven- tion center, which include such notable brands as Royal Sonesta, Kimpton, Four Seasons, Marriott, Hilton (which overlooks Oriole Park at Camden Yards), and a number of others, in addition to several first-class independent properties.
Another of its advantages consists of three niche congresses within the PHLCVB umbrella that are available to assist visiting groups with many services, including obtaining speakers, industry experts, venues and more. These congresses are: the Greater Philadelphia Life Sciences Congress (GPLSC); the Multicultural Affairs Congress (MAC); and the Philadelphia Sports Congress (PSC). Additional specialized meeting services are avail- able for international meeting groups, LGBT meeting groups, and family reunions.
The city's Pennsylvania Convention Center offers ample space and oppor- tunities for shows of all sizes, is easy to reach with transportation options that include Amtrak and the Philadelphia International Airport nearby, plus regional rail lines that come right to the center. Since completing an expansion in 2011, the center has increased its capacity by almost 60 percent to become one of the largest convention centers in the country. It also has the largest ballroom in the Northeast, and boasts many meeting rooms, amenities, and high tech audio-visual equipment and services. Recently, the convention center also earned LEED gold certification, as well.
The PHLCVB can help planners to find the best fits for their functions, whether a large show at the convention center or a truly special event at one of the city's unique venues like the Franklin Institute, the Chemical Heritage Foundation, the National Constitution Center, or the Barnes Foundation Museum.

One of the newest additions to the city is The Horseshoe Baltimore, a Caesars Entertainment casino property that opened in August of 2014 as the second largest casino in Maryland with a 122,000-square foot gaming floor. It also is home to the Baltimore Marketplace, which features authentic Charm City food outlets, three premier restaurants, plus several bars and lounges. The casino is designed to maxi- mize connectivity with existing hospitality oper- ators, neighboring sports venues (M&T Bank Stadium and Oriole Park at Camden Yards), and the city’s famed Inner Harbor.
