But there is even more to this resort town. Morey's Piers offers additional options for meeting and event groups. While attendees spend the day meeting in its "unconventional" and out-of-the-box function space, their families can enjoy the pier's waterpark rides and attractions.
The fun isn't only for spouses and children, though. Lynch noted that lots of attendees take part in team building activities on the beach and board- walk, too. A group may have lunch together at a local pizza place and then play some carnival-style games of chance together on the boardwalk - a fun activity that gets people interacting and laughing and having a good time. They also can compete in a go-kart race or go head-to-head in bumper cars on the boardwalk instead.
"In addition to these activities, local charter boats and boardwalk rides, groups can get together on the beach for a 'mini-olympics' where they could participate in beach volleyball, tug-o-war, a three-legged race and a water balloon toss. Plus there's a municipal baseball field across the street from the convention center, and we can help set up a game for a group."
Lynch notes that the Wildwoods offers tremendous "bike-ability," and that allows for a great deal of ease in getting around. "We're an island that is flat, so it is easy to bike here. There are many rental places, or visitors can bring their own. You truly can get anywhere you want on a bicycle or Surrey here. Bikes are allowed on the boardwalk until 11:00 am, but there also are bike paths available for riding all day in North Wildwood and also in Wildwood Crest."
"We host a lot of association groups, youth and sporting events. Lodging options are plentiful here, and we can offer about 7,000 overnight rooms, when you take into account condominium rentals, so we can accommo- date groups of virtually any size... And we're not just a summer resort - the Wildwoods does business 12 months a year. For example, from November 1, 2014 through the last weekend of March 2015, we hosted 26 events at the convention center that generated a combined 33,000 attendees."
The summer is prime tourism season, but opportunities to meet at the shore can still be had in July and August, said Lynch. April, May, June, September and October present some of the best opportunities to meet here, though, he noted.
For those who want to schedule a visit during popular public and con- sumer events in the Wildwoods, the summer offers a tattoo convention in August, a Waterford Crystal show and sale, plus the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) and Harlem Globetrotters who hold shows here every summer. "In early July, there's a BBQ and Blues Festival that attracts barbecue enthusiasts from all over, and it is a Kansas City spon- sored event, which carries a lot of importance in the barbecue communi- ty," noted Lynch.
"What I love most about living and working in the Wildwoods is the sense of community here," he added. "All of us who live and work here are in the business together of taking care of our visitors and making sure they have a wonderful experience during their stay. We want them to have a great time while here, and as they leave, we want them know how important they are to us and how much we want them to come back again soon."
"At the end of the day, it's all about fun here at the Wildwoods," Lynch continued. "We want them to have fun and to come back with their group, and also with their families."
