• Monday 5th January, Cathedral Guild, 7.30pm Cathedral hall. Green Routes - This is a social enterprise and charity organisation. It provides high quality training and work experience in horticulture to young adults with additional support needs.


It is based


in the walled garden at Gartmore House. There will also be a representative from Keep Scotland Beautiful, continuing the theme of young people and a “greener” world.


• Wednesday 7th January, Dunblane and District Gardening Club at 2.00pm in The Cathedral Halls.


The speaker will be Colin Blackhall and his topic will be ‘Test-Tube Potatoes’. Visitors are most welcome to come along to the meeting at a cost of £1.50 •


Friday 9th January, Forth Valley U3A ENROLMENT MEETINGS. 10 – 11.30am in the Parish Church Halls, Bridge of Allan and 2 – 3.30pm in the Mayfield Centre, St Ninian’s, Stirling. • Sunday January 11th, Forth Valley Friends of Scottish Opera. Come and hear Derek Clark on Inés de Castro. James Macmillan’s grand opera Inés de Castro opens in Glasgow this month in a new production and with a revised score. Derek is Scottish Opera’s Head of Music and he will conduct one performance in the run, the remainder being conducted by the composer himself. All very welcome. 2.30 pm, Smith Art Gallery and Museum, Stirling. Members £5, Visitors £6, Students £1, including tea/coffee and biscuits


• Monday 12th January Dunblane Civic Society meets at 7:30pm in the Braeport Centre. Robert Black, former Auditor General of Scotland will talk on “How Government Works in Scotland”. A warm welcome to all. Visitors’ admission is £2.


• Monday 19th January, Cathedral Guild 2.00pm Cathedral hall. Scotland’s Tapestry - This is the world’s largest tapestry. It depicts Scotland’s history from the ice age to modern times in a series of individual panels. Two local ladies who were involved in stitching the panel for this area will talk about their work and what was involved in this enormous enterprise. Anyone who is interested in this unique work is welcome. The tapestry will be on display in Stirling Castle 31 Jan. – 8 March.
