Ham and Prawn Paella by Wendy Gudgeon


Ingredients (serves 4) • • • • • • • •


• 100 gr large prawns •


• 100 gr. frozen peas


Method: •


Heat the oil in a large frying pan and gently cook the onions for 3 to 4 minutes until softened and golden.


• Add the red pepper, garlic and rice and stir-fry for 1 minute. • Add the ham, stock, paprika and turmeric. •


• Add the prawns and peas and cook for a further 2 to 3 minutes. •


Bring to the boil and simmer for about 12 minutes. Season to taste and serve immediately.


1 tblspn vegetable oil


1 red pepper, cored, seeded and sliced 1 onion, sliced


1 clove garlic, crushed 200g. long grain rice


175g lean smoked ham, roughly chopped 900 ml chicken stock


½ tspn paprika and ½ tspn turmeric salt and freshly ground black pepper


This is a great low fat dish to help with the New Year diet.
