Mountain Biking at Beaconhurst by Luke Haughton J5


I joined the Trailblazers with Mr Meharry last year. This is a brilliant club as we get shown mountain biking skills and as well as doing technical skills in the school on the mountain bike trail we also go into the woods and Stirling University.


We go out every Wednesday whatever the weather and we have lights now that it is getting darker. I am in a group that is from J5 to J6 and there are boys and girls. Everyone decided to keep going throughout winter as it is so much fun. It can be cold but Mr Meharry insists we all wear gloves so that helps.


I have learnt lots of skills on my bike and also how to care for and look after my bike including checking the bike over before going out on it.


We have had several trips at weekends and Mr Sanderson, Mr Bray and sometimes the dads of other children join us. These are the best days as we take pack lunches and bike for hours!


I am hoping to get some mountain biking riding with my dad and older brother Jack over the holidays – we like to go to Glen Finglas.
