“Cellfi eld Changed My Life” says Matthew, aged 9
When asked if he wanted to accompany his Mum when she visited the Stirling Cellfi eld Centre, Matthew (9) jumped at the chance: “I always like to visit the people who changed me life” he said, dashing towards the door. Such a powerful thing for a 9 year old boy to say but Matthew loves telling people about Cellfi eld.
“Everyone at the centre was so helpful and positive”
he explains, and things changed for him: “Cellfi eld gave me confi dence and strength” he says, and improved both his reading and handwriting skills.
In fact, halfway through the
programme he noticed he held his pencil better and then his handwriting improved.
Cellfi eld is a unique approach to helping people overcome dyslexia and similar processing issues. A multi sensory computer-based programme carried out over 2 weeks, Cellfi eld is provided in Stirling by Fiona Macdiarmid, former Headteacher and teacher who is a trusted source of tutoring for many Stirling parents as she also runs the successful Kip McGrath tuition centre. “Matthew was one of our younger Cellfi eld clients and yet he can easily talk about how it helped him”, says Fiona. “Everyone’s experience of Cellfi eld is unique to them but, in my 30 year career in education, I have not seen anything which makes such a signifi cant diff erence in such a short time” she says. Gains of up to 2 years in reading age can be achieved after only two weeks. However that is only part of the story, as Matthew would be quick to point out: “I loved Cellfi eld” he says, “it changed my life”.
