seniors Danie Proby and Katie Hikida took care of the disc in the tough conditions.
True freshman, Victoria McCann showed poise and skill beyond her years and All-Canadian world games star, Mira Donaldson was a force on both sides of the disc. Donaldson used her threatening arsenal of throws to break holes in the UVic zone and pushed the disc up field with considerable pace.

The tightly matched contests will no doubt leave UBC hungry to win in Victoria next season.
Women’s Game
The women’s game kicked off within minutes of the open game finish as the rain-slicked spectators refilled their coffee and hot chocolate. Both men’s teams stuck around to support their respective squads.
UBC thoroughly won the 2013 Douglas Bowl in Victoria and it was clear the UVic was out for retribution early. The wind had died slightly making both end zones vital. The rain, seemingly endless continued to pound the players making both throwing and catching, often second nature, a task in itself.
U23 players Kate Scarth, Jessie Bell and Allie Short led a strong cast of UVic cutters while

fashion. Their crisp cutting on offense and their tenacious zone was just too much to handle even for the dangerous throwers of UBC. The women’s game wrapped up 11-7 for UVic. The happy – albeit cold – spectators were treated to a brilliant display of college ultimate.

Now the focus switches to the USAU college series for UBC and UVic. Both women’s teams are ranked in the top 10 in the USAU rankings and will be looking to be title contenders come May. Both UVic and UBC open teams will be battling in the tightly contested NW region, which as of now only has one bid to the USAU college championships.
