AMY LUO
Luo is a product of the solid BC junior program. Since playing juniors she moved on to Carelton University and is now back on the west coast playing for the UBC T-Birds. She represented Canada in Toronto last summer on the U23 mixed team.
Luo says her favourite part of coaching is bringing her passion to aspiring players.
“The most rewarding part about coaching is being able to share something I love and am passionate about,” Luo says. “To know that I made a difference in someone’s ultimate career and that I could help them achieve their goals of improving means the world to me.”
Luo brings excellence and experience to her coaching style. She comments that the balance between being firm with her athletes and maintaining a sense of compassion is critical.

“You want to push your team, but if you push too hard they will just quit on you. With junior girls especially you have to be careful with this,” Luo says.
Her coaching experience with the junior women’s team, Misfit, has provided her an opportunity to give back to the club that she once played for. This adds a certain passion that is necessary for coaching.
“Dedication and passion are really important. As a coach, your team looks to you and if you aren’t passionate you won’t spark that fire in the team,” Luo says.”
