UC - How did you get involved in training Ultimate players? MA: I graduated from UBC HKIN Exercise Science and I was always interested in high performance training. After I graduated, I got my personal training certification and my CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist). Back when I was playing frisbee in university, my absolute weakness was defense and muscular endurance. I realized that all of this was actually trainable. I applied this training to myself and saw a vast improvement. This is when I realized that proper training can make a big difference in performance and this is when I thought that I wanted to help others train to become better athletes. RB: I work as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at the Athlete Factory Elite Performance Centre in Calgary, AB. With my background playing Ultimate and my current career it was a pretty logical step for me to train Ultimate players. I started off by training the local men’s team in Calgary approximately 6 or 7 years ago and have since done some training camps for Furious George, the Nomads World’s team and some work with a few individual payers on FG and the Nighthawks.
